Hi my name is Mysan and I am a control freak!
Well, this has been a very interesting week.
The theme in my classes has been all about letting go of control.
Control of being, looking, acting, communicating in a certain way, succeeding in a certain way and control of holding on to old habits – moving through life on autopilot. The control of holding on to tension in our bodies and muscles is truly interesting! We all walk around with shoulder to ear disease! (inhale…and when you exhale, relax those shoulders!). We often even try to control things that are out of our control and almost equally as often, we try to control other people.
What is that all about??!!
So as the classes has taken shape our dialog has provided us with insight of where we need to let go of control, where we need to balance our control and where we still need to keep the control – very valuable knowledge indeed! (if you have not already, have a think and a feel of where your inner control freak is working overtime!)
The issues that I constantly see and hear from people are: I don’t have time! I am so busy!
Well stop watching tellie! Stop playing video games! Stop answering emails asap as they drop down in your inbox! Stop answering the phone at the dinner table! Stop texting while you are having coffee with your friends! Stop spending hours at Facebook (and here I am on Facebook, typing away…) Do you really need all that info?
I have therefor put myself and my students in to a challenge (and feel free to join in!)
This challenge can be set up to suit you in a better way so set you own grove to it, but the ground rules are:
Time limit your computer/FB/Phone and Tellie hours!
So for me that means that I am NOT checking any computerised means of communication until after I have done my yoga, training, had a peaceful brekky and a nice shower - enjoying the stillness of the morning! And on the other side of the day – I am cut off from the ‘Cyber space-need to know what everyone is up too- email answers asap- World’ at 8pm in the evenings.
And let me tell you peeps, wow, it was a challenge the first few days, addiction alright! I could feel my inner Control Freak and the surge of Cyberspace calling me..just a quick FB check…I wonder if any work emails has come in…check it…check it now… and to resist was hard. But as the days passed and my inner Control Freak calmed down, the stillness and peace feels fantastic!! My brain is not being fried with the constant feed of images, communication and information, I choose my cyber battles deliberately and I feel whole and complete, grounded and awesome!
So there you go – have a try, find your freak, resist the surge of cyberspace let go of control and float peeps, float!
Enjoy!

Yesterdays class was all about...just....STOP!
What is we just for a minute, an hour or a yoga class...just stopped? Stopped trying, being, groving, achieving, making, thinking (wow, that’s a tricky one!), acting, controlling, speaking, tensing, reaching, clench our teeth, boogy-ing( as much fun as that is!) and just... surrender.
After all…we are Human Beings…not Human Doings!
In some of our most challenging moments we often tend to move even further in to control, reach, achieve, make happen...what if we just stepped back, took a deep breath and...Stopped? Now there is a challenge for you!!
Can you surrender, with each and every body part, from the deep of your heart to the surface of your skin? Stop with your being and spirit to just listen...to the silence?
And there in the land of Surrender, the city of Silence, between cute little alleyways and narrow streets, is a forgotten place called the Gap - the in between. This is where we find our self when we reach Surrender and Silence, and our thoughts slow down, our breath slows down...and there...in between our thoughts...is a gap...in between our breaths is a gap...listen and hear the silence in the gap between the little arm on your clock going tick...tock...
Isn’t is just fantastic?!
C’mon , I dare you...Stop, Surrender...for a minute, a moment, an hour, a day, in a confrontation, in a challenge... try it out - it might change your view on the world. Listen. To. The. Silence.
See you in the gap peeps :)

Asteya was the theme as we found our balance and joy through the week. Asteya is translated non-stealing and can be interpreted in many ways. As the given translation - you shall not steal any money or materialistic stuff from anyone, you shall not steal any one elses ideas, or take credit for any success created by any other then yourself. You should charge yourself up from your own thunder, not from a fellow co-worker, student or other persons thunder. But Asteya for me, has a deeper point to it as well. In my mind it is about not being jealous of what others have, not wanting someone else fortune, luck, life or happiness. It is about joining in on the celebrations of anyone else awesomeness. If a friend wins the lottery, be happy for them (and I mean - authentically happy, no fake smiles and don't let your little ego sit on your shoulder and tell you; it should have been you!) as the champagne corks fly. If you see people around you driving the car you would like to drive, give them the thumbs up and know that it will be you driving around with those hot wheels one day not to far away, if someone meets their love of their life, feel the joy and love and step out on those rosy clouds with them, happy hearts - your person will come to you when time is right. As we all start to truly be happy for other peoples fortune, happiness, joy and ease and we let go of any jealousy, when we stop comparing, stop the strive to be, have, reach, achieve the things and happenings of someone else - everything for you...what you want will come right to you. So all you fabulous people, celebrate, share and joyfully congratulate! Ps. ...hey...it feels great already doesn't it??!! Love, life, live life Mysan
